Conference Program Overview

Pamela Hinds and David Martin, CSCW 2006 Chairs

Welcome to the 20th Anniversary of CSCW!

For this event, the program committee has put together a conference that showcases current work, reflects on accomplishments over the last 20 years, and looks to the future. The CSCW conference continues to be a leading forum for the work on the design, deployment, and evaluation of technologies that affect groups, organizations, communities, and societies. New technologies of this type continue to appear in all segments of society. While the field of CSCW began formally two decades ago with a focus on work (captured, of course, in the name itself), it is now the case that CSCW researchers and developers attend to all aspects of social life.

As you will see from looking through the program, the conference offers many opportunities for coming into contact with what is happening in the CSCW field and to network with fellow researchers. We encourage you to engage with many of these, including plenary events, paper sessions, panels, and social events, to enjoy the full richness of the conference.
